Funeral services were held Monday, Nov 20, for Mrs. Jeanette M. Whisler, a Penrose resident for the past 38 years. She died Friday at the Pueblo St. Mary Corwin hospital at the age of 74.
Services were held at the Andrews Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ivan R. Rymes officiating. Majka Clark, accompanied by W. Lloyd Smith, sang "Beyond the Sunset" and "The Lord's Prayer."
Pallbearers were Victor Dietz, Stanley Boorom, Arthur Molello, Bill Hammock, Russell Mace and Pete Dickman.
Mrs. Whisler was born Feb. 10, 1898 in Lava Township, Kansas. She had been a resident of Colorado for 45 years and was a teacher, having taught Kindergarten grades for Fremont School District Re-2 (J).
She was a member of the United Presbyterian church, Beaver Park Grange 396, Retired Teachers Association, the Alpha Delta Kappa Teacher's sorority, and was the immediate past-president of the Jane Jefferson club.
She was married to R.E. Stebbins, Nov 10, 1922 at Colby, Kansas. He preceded her in death Jan 8, 1966.
She and Steve H. Whisler were married at Penrose May 4, 1968. In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, Wallace L. Stebbins of Lakin, KS., and Robert F. Stebbins of Grand Junction, and one stepson, C.L. Whisler of Florence, 3 grandchildren and 8 step-grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters, Mrs. Ruth Medford and Mrs. Myrtle Ballentine, both of Goodland, KS.
Burial was at the Penrose Cemetery.
