Herbert Haney Floyd, age 82 of Arnoldsville, went home to be with the Lord on April 18, 2012, after an extended illness.
Born in Lavonia, Georgia, he was the son of the late Elbert Floyd and Essie Haney Floyd.
He retired from Westinghouse after 31 years. He also served in the U.S. Army for two years during the Korean War. He was a member of Crawford Baptist Church.
He is survived by his loving wife, Gaynell Floyd, of the home; two daughters and sons-in-law Gail and Tommy Noell of Winterville, Kathy and Tim Fulton of Greenville, S.C.; two sons and daughters-in-law, Bobby and Debra Floyd, Mark and Tami Floyd all of Lexington; 10 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Josephine Moncrief of Lavonia, Georgia.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on April 20, 2012 from 6:00 until 8:00 pm.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 21, 2012 at 11:00 AM at the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Greg Abercrombie officiating, entombment will follow at Athens Memory Gardens.
Scott Noltensmeier, Kenny Floyd, Jonathan Fulton, Derek Nelms, Lamar Nelms, Mickey Martin, and Kevin Williams will serve as pallbearers.
Flower will be accepted or memorial donation may be made to St. Mary's Hospice Service C/O P.O. Box 6588 Athens, GA 30604.
