Elfriede McGuire 1919-2012 COLONIE, NY Elfriede McGuire, 92, of Colonie, N.Y., passed away on Wednesday, April 18, 2012. She was born October of 1919 in Stuttgart, Germany, lived and was educated in the pre Nazi period. Elfriede followed her father to America in 1934. Living and working in various firms in NYC until the late forties, she moved with family to Nassau, N.Y. She soon met and married Philip D. McGuire, had two children and enjoyed a loving marriage with him in Hoosick Falls, until his death in 1978. Throughout her life she enjoyed various and successful career paths including her favorite as wife and mother to her two children. She also worked as a copy writer on Madison Ave, various management positions at ARA Vending in Latham, Macy's in Colonie and The Boston Store in Latham. She also worked as food service manager and is retired from the Rensselaer County Senior Services in Hoosick Falls. In her later years she enjoyed traveling abroad and in the Caribbean with close friends and acquaintances. She is survived by her son Philip of Colonie, her daughter Patricia of Pownal, Vt., five grandchildren and four great grandchildren. A small and private viewing for family was held at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home in Colonie. Interment was in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hoosick Falls, NY.
