BERNHARD HANSEN DIES AT HOME IN OXFORD JUNCTION

Funeral services for Berhard J. Hansen, 87, were held at his late home at 1:30 and at the Zion American Lutheran church in Wyoming at 2 p.m. Friday, with Rev. R.F. Gronewald officiating, assisted by Rev. John L. Greeny of the Lutheran church here. Interment was in the Mayflower cemetery.
Mr.Hansen, son of August and Maria Hansen, was born in Germany, Oct 18, 1869, and died at his home here Tuesday evening, May 7 at 9:30 pm. after being ill the past year. He was married to Mary Martensen and after her death married Hattie Ingwersen.
He was a retired farmer, having lived previously to coming to town, on the farm now owned by his son, August, and tenanted by his grandson Ronald Hansen.
Mr. Hansen was very active in church and school affairs, being a member of the Zion American Lutheran Church in Wyoming. He was a past president of the Citizens State bank in Wyoming, director of the Mutual Insurance Company of Wheatland for many years, and a township trustee.
He is survived by eight children: Mrs. Minnie Schrader of Anamosa, Mrs. Elsie Cunningham of Cedar Rapids, August, Harro and Louie Ingwersen, Mrs.Marle Ledvina, Ervin and Mrs. Ann Sobotka, all of Oxford Junction, 28 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were his wife, three children, his parents, one brother and three sisters. Pallbearers were Ronald and Gary Hansen, Roger Ingwersen, John Schrader of Anamosa and Thomas Jr. and John Cunningham of Cedar Rapids.
