Todd A. Rust, 43, was the youngest in the nation to obtain a Federal Communications Commission 3rd class radio professional license at age 12 yrs. . At 17, he had his private pilot's license. After graduating from Princeton public schools, he went to Elkins Institute for Broadcast Electronics Engineering. He was the youngest Dale Carnegie Sales Talk Champion at 19, the youngest radio station sales manager in Minnesota at 20, and youngest general manager of a radio station in Minnesota at 22. He had an amateur ham radio operator's license, was a volunteer fire fighter - he received Fire Fighter of the Year in 1983 and 1992 - and had served as mayor of Princeton, was a reserve deputy sheriff, was an officer and director of the Princeton Chamber of Commerce, had technical college teaching certificates for Minnesota and Wisconsin, was a locomotive engineer and conductor. He had won many awards for his public service. He originated the concept of a fully enclosed pump operator control panel for fire trucks and helped design and sold the first two trucks in the world utilizing this design. The concept is now an industry standard. He taught fire fighting at a technical college, was city emergency manager, an instructor of severe weather spotter training, was executive director of the city economic development authority, and was city economic development director.

He married Julianne Johnson Sept. 25, 1992. Survivors include his wife, Julie; stepchildren, Amy Wark and Travis Wark, Zimmerman; parents, Art and Erma Rust, Princeton; sisters, Diane Sutton, Dalbo; Karen Hanson, Princeton; and Leanae Carlson, Vasa.
