Amos J. Dickerman, son of Oscar and Rosie Dickerman, was born May 2, 1885 in Brookville, Kan., and passed away in the Concordia hospital, on May 21, 1961, at the age of 76 following a period of 9 years of poor health.

At the age of 4, he moved to Belleville with his parents, and received his education in the Belleville public schools.

On March 7, 1906 he was united in marriage to Dora May Cardwell. Although there were no children born to this union, Mr. Dickerman loved his nephews and neices as if they were his own children, and in turn, they dearly loved him. During his 55 years of married life, he proved to be a devoted, kind, and loving husband.

The first ten years following his marriage, he lived in Belleville, and then they moved to Colorado in 1916, where he lived for the next 27 years. During these years, he was active in 4-H work, and also took great interest in school affairs, serving on school boards for some time.

In 1942, he returned to Kansas, making his home in Rydal, where he operated a Service Station, store, and Post Office. In 1955, he moved to Belleville, where he has made his home until the time of his death.

The Bible became a Book of great meaning to him, and he enjoyed spending much of his time in reading and studying God's Word. The Word of the Lord became a part of his life, and he enjoyed discussing it with others. He was a regular attendant of church services, as long as his health would permit.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and two sisters.

Survivors include, his wife Dora: two brothers, Edward of Solomon, Kan., and Oscar of Joplin, Mo.; four sisters, Mrs. Ethel Cox of Longton, Kan., Mrs. George Nixon, Mrs. Etta Ball, and Mrs. Walter Galey, all of Belleville, several nephews and nieces, and a multitude of friends.

Funeral services were conducted in the Bachelor-Faulkner-Dart Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 24, at 10 A.M. by Rev. E.E. Brannon, and burial was in the Belleville Cemetery.
