121st NY Infantry, Co. G, August 11, 1862 - June 25, 1865

Was a 25 year old mechanic when he enlisted on 11 August 1862 into the 121st New York Volunteer Infantry at Decatur, Otsego County, New York.

He mustered into Capt. Edwin Clark's Co. G on 23 August 1862 at Camp Schuyler, near Herkimer, New York for a term of three years.

Saw much action in the ensuing years with the 121st N.Y., such as the battle at Fredericksburg, Virginiain December 1863, wintering at White Oak Church that winter across the Rappahannock River in Stafford County, from where he participated in the now famous "Burnside Mud March." Was at Salem Church, Gettysburg, The Wilderness, Spotsylvania Court House, Cold Harbor and the last battle at Sayler's Creek, just to name a few. Was at Appomattox when General Robert E. Lee surrendered. Participated in the "second" Grand Review in Washington D. C., prior to mustering out with the regiment at Hall's Hill, Virginia near Alexandria and across the Potomac River from Washington D. C. on 23 June 1862.
