The daughter of Joseph Charland and Louise Grivault dit Brisjoly. Married George Payette 11 February 1861. They were the parents of 14 children: Marie Hedwidge/6 November 1861, Euclide Joseph/2 March 1863, Marie Louise/February 1865, Merelise Marie/13 April 1866, Arthur Joseph/10 November 1867, Louis/1869, Camilla-M-Valerie/12 December 1872, Archie George Arthur/30 April 1874, Albina Marie/21 April 1876, Joseph Louis Jean Bte./3 August 1878, Ferman J. Fortune/3 May 1880, Minnie Herminie/15 January 1882. In 1883 the Payettes came to Millie Lacs County and settled in Greenbush on one of the finest farms in that section. In 1900 George and several sons were still farming in Greenbush Township, Mille Lacs Co., Minnesota. After the death of their son Louis they were unable to continue living on the old homestead and moved to Minneapolis residing with their youngest son, Ferman. Eight of their fourteen children survived their mother: E.J. of Anoka, Arthur of Princeton, Joseph L. of Brickton, Ferman of Minneapolis, Mrs. Louis Blair of Stillwater, Mrs. Victor Boucher of East Farmington, Mrs. John J. Neville of Minneapolis, Mrs. Wm. Sicard of Stillwater.
Elisa died of intestinal carcinoma.
