Born August 21, 1927, in Star Junction, PA, he was the son of Paul and Mary Hancharik. He had lived in Garrettsville seven months, moving from Burton Township, where he resided for 26 years.
He retired in 1992 as a printing pressman for Container Corp. of American, Solon, after 37 years of service.
He enjoyed gardening and raising chickens, and was an avid fan of boxing, baseball, and rodeo. He boxed while serving in the army.
A veteran of World War II, he received the World War II Victory Medal and Army of Occupation Medal.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death May 2, 1997, by his wife, Dolores B. (Tylka) Hancharik whom he wed October 17, 1952, in Cleveland; sisters Anne Hancharik and Kate David; and a brother, Paul.
