Joseph Grandel is unrelated to everyone else.
∼Joseph Grandel was born on March 1, 1910.
Joseph Grandel was born and raised in Joliet Illinois to Amilia Bogusz (Stec) and Frank Grandel (Grzadziel).
Amilia and Frank had children: Catherine, Thomas, Joseph, John, Mary, and Walter.
Amelia and Frank divorced and Amelia married Frank Bogusz.
Amelia and Frank had additional children: Frank and Stanley (twins) and a daughter named Anne.
He slept on a cot in the living room at home, because the family was so poor.
Joe later moved to Cleveland Ohio, West Virginia, and then to Metaire, Jefferson, Louisiana.
Joe joined the Army and was stationed in New Orleans. Joe would stretch out the lines and others would connect them for communication while in the Army.
Joe liked to go to dances on East 55th Street in Cleveland, Ohio at the Bohemian Sokol Hall.
He worked after the second war with WPA (workers building and fixing highways and bridges and roads).
While stationed in New Orleans, Joe met his wife Ruby. He was coming home on furlough and met her on a train. Ruby was on her way to New York and she was a shoe buyer with a very prestigious company in New Orleans. She was a real Southern Bell - a polite person. Ruby was highly educated, but never thought that she was better then anyone else. She had the patience of a Saint.
Joe married Ruby and had no children, but Ruby was married before and had a son Ronnie and Joe adopted him. Ronnie moved to Texas.
Joe worked for the Masons. He worked for a sugar cane company as well.
While working at the hospital, Joe had a massive coronary heart attack in the emergency room.
He died in April 1976.
Joe was not buried in the ground as we traditionally bury people, because of the sea levels in New Orleans. He was buried above ground, but his place of burial is not known.
Joseph was a kind hearted timid person and will be missed dearly.
