John Little was born in Biddulph Twn, Middlesex Co., Ontario, Canada. He immigrated to Wisconsin from Canada when he was 19. His father, mother and several of his at that time five siblings also came, but some of the siblings returned to Canada. He owned a sawmill in Black Creek between 1870-1880. He later moved to Oshkosh where he worked in a sawmill and owned two houses. After the death of his 3rd wife, about 1923, John went to Buffalo, OK where his daughter Sarah Rebecca Little DeMarsh lived. He bought a small house in Buffalo and lived there for 2 or 3 years with his friend Nellie French Little. Nellie was the divorced ex-wife of John's brother Moses. They sold their home in Buffalo and moved to Oshksoh WI in 1926. John was boarding a street car in Oshkosh (or Rhinelander?) in Nov 1926 when he slipped and fell, suffering internal injuries. He was hospitalized and died a few days later in the hospital. We have death certificate from St Mary's Hospital in Rhinelander, WI showing Monico as his home address. As Rhinelander is about 125 miles NW of Oshkosh, and Monico is a small town outside Rhinelander, that would be feasible. However, the family tradition that he was in Oshkosh when he slipped and fell does not fit. Further confirmation and/or information is needed to clarify that.

John's had three wives, but only one child. He first married Martha Jane Wiley in 1878 in Green Bay, WI. After her death he married Alice (??) Little. His third and presumably final wife was Sarah Diezard Little. His only child was Sarah Rebecca Little, born Jan 29, 1879. It's unknown whether he married Nellie French Little or not. His death certificate was signed by 'Mrs. John Little', which would presumably be Nellie whether in fact they were married or not.
