Hayes, Elizabeth Ann "Betty" 85, formerly of New Ulm died Saturday, July 14, 2007 at the Edina Care Center in Edina. Mass of Christian burial will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, July 19, 2007 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in New Ulm with Father Edward J. Ardolf celebrating the Mass. Burial will be in the New Ulm City Cemetery in New Ulm. Visitation will be from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Thursday at the St. Mary's Catholic Church. Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm is in charge of the arrangements.
Betty is survived by her daughters-in-law, Gail Hayes of Apple Valley, Karen Hayes of Plymouth; nine grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; and a nephew, Donald Block of New Ulm. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James Hayes on April 21, 1996; her sons, James Hayes and Michael Hayes; a sister, Dorothy Block; and a brother, Eugene Klingler.
Elizabeth Ann Klingler was born on June 17, 1922 in New Ulm to Harry and Lena (Schobert) Klingler. In 1941 she was united in marriage to James Hayes in New Ulm. After marriage they lived in the Twin Cities until retirement and then moved to New Ulm. After the death of her husband she returned to the Twin Cities.
