Floyd A. Rockwood Sr., 71, of Winthrop, died on Tuesday (Aug. 23, 1988) at his home.

He was born in the town of Stockholm, son of William and Ida Brabaw Rockwood. He attended Stockholm schools and was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army from 1940-44. He married Jean M. Adams of Norfolk on Dec. 23, 1965 in Norfolk. He worked for the town of Stockholm as a dog warden for many years and was also self-employed. He was a member of St. Patrick's Church, American Legion Post 68 in Norwood, and the Disabled American Veterans.

Surviving was his wife; three sons, Joseph Thomas of Florida, David of Brasher, Floyd Rockwood Jr. of Winthrop; three daughters, Mary Meaney of Syracuse, Deborah Adams and Virginia Rockwood,, both of Winthrop; five brothers, Loney Rockwood of California, Bert Rockwood of North Carolina, Fred Rockwood of Utica, Edward Rockwood of Ogdensburg; Charles Rockwood of Moira; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by three brothers, William, George and John.

Burial was made in Fairview cemetery in Brasher Falls.
