Mr. Carlin was born April 3, 1905 at Peck, Kans. The son of John and Mary Chancel Carlin. He was a retired farmer. He was a former vice-resident of New-Mac Electric
Cooperative and served as a local road commissioner for about 35 years. He was a member of Stella Lodge No. 538, AF&AM and attended Success Primitive Baptist Church. He married Mary Fisher on Oct. 10, 1925 at Stella. She survives.
Additional survivors include a son, Maynard "Doc" Carlin, Anderson, seven daughters, Cloteel Atkins, Anderson, Maxine Waters, Stella, Ila Jean Yankovick and Glenda Busick, both of Melbourne, Fla, Bobbie Cameron, St. Petersburg, Fla., Frankie Meyer, Joplin and Brenda Urso, Plattsburg AFB, N.Y., four brothers, Elmo Carlin, Roy Carlin and George Carlin, all of Rocky Comfort, and Carl Carliln, Stella, a sister, Ruth Gibbons, Granby, 14 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Services were held Friday, Aug. 9 at Union Church near Rocky Comfort. Burial was in Union Cemetery under the direction of McQueen Funeral Home, Wheaton.
