Ministers who were to officiate were the Rev. H. P. Porter, co-pastor of the East McComb Baptist church the Rev. J. E. Gray of Magnolia, and the Rev. D. M. Marlin, of Hammond, La. Serving as pallbearers are Lowell Ferrell, T. J. Pittman, Thad Martin, R. E. Phillips, Clyde Coker and H. B. Germany.
The death of this fine young soldier, who was only 19 years of age, brings grief and sadness to the hearts of loved ones and friends here. He was a soldier of true character and was a favorite among his buddies.
Sgt. Barlow began his life as a soldier at the age of 16 in November, 1940, when members of the National Guard were inducted into the armed forces. He served in the army for six months at Camp Blanding, Fla., and when his age was discovered, he was honorably discharged from the services.
In September, 1942, after he had become 18 years of age, he enlisted in the Air Corps. His promotions were rapid and he soon became a sergeant, and a turret gunner.
The young soldier was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. W. T. Barlow of Fernwood and McComb. He leaves two sisters and three brothers.
Hartman Funeral Home was in charge.
