WILLIAM WAYNE FENNELL of Phoenix, AZ., formerly of rural Barry, IL died Wednesday, June 1, 2005 at the Terraces Nursing Home in Phoenix at the age of 94. He was born November 12, 1910 to William G. Fennell and Mary Ann O'Leary Fennell. He graduated in 1937 from University of Illinois in agricultural engineering. In 1941 he married Cecelia L. Shoaff of Shelbyville, IL and she preceded him in death. Mr. Fennell worked for 30 years for Farmers Home Administration, mostly in the Pike and Adams County areas. He was a World War II Veteran, serving four years in the U.S. Coast Guard. Mr. Fennell was a founding member of the Holy Redeemer Church in Barry, IL. Survivors include a son James Fennell of St. Louis, and a daughter Susan Tierney of Phoenix, a son-in-law William Birdsall of Naples and two daughters-in-law: Linda Fennell of Quincy, IL and Susan Fennell of Kenosha, WI. Eight grandchildren and one great grandchild along with two sisters Frances Putman of Canton, IL and Helen Young of Ft. Meyers, FL and several nieces and nephews also survive. Mr. Fennell was preceded in death by his daughter Patricia Birdsall, a son William Gregory Fennell and a sister Dorothy Fennell. Graveside services will be held on Monday, June 6, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at Park Lawn Cemetery in Barry with Fr. Rodney Swartz officiating. A luncheon will be served at the Holy Redeemer Hall following the services. Visitation will be held Sunday evening, May 5, 2005 from 5-7 p.m. at the Niebur Funeral Chapel in Barry, IL. Memorials may be made to the donor's choice.
