Funeral services for Mr. Wilhite will be conducted Friday June 4, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. at the Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with Reverend B.T. Thomas officiating. Burial will be in the Arlington Cemetery with military honors being provided by the Tennessee State Guard. The family will visit with friends Thursday from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
The Jacksonville Florida native was the son of the late Virgil S. Sr. and Sally Clair English Wilhite. He was the husband of Emma Lou Ridge Wilhite for sixty-four years. He was a graduate of Hay Long High School. He was retired from the United States Air Force and served during World War II in India, China and Burma. He was a member of Mt. Pleasant American Legion Post #10. He was a former employee of the Wilbert Vault Company and a farmer. He was a member of the Enterprise United Methodist Church.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, David R. (Shelia) Wilhite of Mt. Pleasant and Richard (Brenda) Wilhite of Lewisburg; a sister, Lissie Emma Austin of Sevierville, TN; a brother, Dr. Robert C. (Esther) Wilhite, Sr. of Columbia, TN; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a son, Virgil S. (Colleen) Wilhite, III; a brother; Dr. Richard E. Wilhite; a granddaughter, Katherine Emma Wilhite.
