Two brothers, Paul and Peter emigrated to America before she was born and Katherine and her family would follow in 1882.
She married George Paul Brandau, a Civil War Veteran, and a widower, when she was 18 years old on April 17, 1893. George and Katherine had three children, George Paul, Walter William, and Laura Sophie.
When Katherine was only 38 years old she became a widow when her 76 year old husband died.
From her Obituary:
Mrs. Katherine Brandau 90, of Orland Park formerly of Frankfort, died Thursday at the Rest Haven Nursing Home in Worth Township following a lingering illness.
Mrs. Brandau was born in the Frankfort area and lived there most of her life. She lived in Orland Park for 25 years. Survivors include a son,Walter of Frankfort; a daughter, Mrs. Laura Cooper of Orland Park, 9 grandchildren, 19 great-grand children and one great-greatgrand child.
She was preceded in death by a son, George of Joliet and her husband George . Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in Frankfort.
