Lex Harper Barnett, age 86, passed away Wednesday, May 16, 2012 at Sunnybrook Living Care Center in Fairfield.

Lex was born on July 29, 1925 in Douds, to Ray and Linnet Slutts Barnett. He served with the Iowa National Guard and worked at Iowa Malleable Iron Co. as a foundry worker for several years.

Lex is survived by 4 children: Donavon, Jeff, Kent and Joiene and 7 siblings: Leona Sanderson of Hillsboro, Georgia Ellis of Keota, Beulah Shilling and Anna Workman of Fairfield, Mary(Gordon)Faught of Douds, Charlotte Wallerick of Danville and Jim(Jackie)Barnett of Fairfield.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers: Robert and twin-Rex, 1 sister: Marie Ellis and 2 daughters: Jackquelin and Melody.

There are no services planned at this time. His body has been cremated and burial will take place in Hillsboro Cemetery at a later date. Memorials may be made to The Good Samaritan Society Home Care and Hospice.
