Mahaffey researchers please note: The John Mahaffey in this grave has not been proven to be "John Hugh Mahaffey" who appears to be the son of Samuel Mahaffey. The person in this grave died in Philadelphia in 1850 at age 52. Therefore, his birth year was about 1798, not 1787, which is supposedly the date for John Hugh Mahaffey. The person in this grave did NOT die in Chester County. He was originally buried in American Mechanics Cemetery in Philadelphia. That cemetery was moved to Chester County in 1951.
If you have a source for who John Mahaffey's parents were, or the date of his marriage to Sarah Streeton, Stretton, I would appreciate your getting in touch with me. There are many online trees that perpetuate misinformation and I can find none that have actual sources for the confusion between John Mahaffey, 1798-1850 and John Hugh Mahaffey, son of Samuel.

Lot Owner and only name on the grave marker: John B. Besser
