Joseph Senn was born in Speier, Beresan, Russia, now Petstschanyibrod, Ukraine. He married Franciska(Frances)Kary in 1877 in Russia, where they farmed. Joseph, his wife and their 6 children John, Nicodemus, Rosa, Mary Eva, Mary Anna and Adam arrived at New York from Bremen on 28 June 1893. They Homesteaded in Stark County, North Dakota, which later became Hettinger County. There they raised 4 more children, Michael, Valentine, Teresa and Franz. Joseph became a naturalized citizen of the U.S.A. on 05 May 1902. Joseph farmed until his death, and was buried at St. Placidus Cemetery, where he had attended St. Placidus Catholic Church. His wife Franciska later remarried.
