This stone was discovered in November 2003 during the Jackson College Cemetery restoration project conducted by the Sons of Confederate Veterans. It had been buried for years. It is unknown how many years the stone had been buried. There have been two cemetery books done on the Maury County Cemeteries - one in the 1970's and one in the 1980's. The stone was not there for either of them. It has been erected back in place. It was discovered in the south end of the Baily family memorials. There is an Elizabeth Young who is buried on the North end of the Bailey family memorials. Also in the midst there was a footstone with the initials "J. W. Y." indication either a spouse or child most likely of Elizabeth. This indicates that there was a tie between the Bailey and Young families.
The photos here were taken by Wayne Austin in November 2003. See his website on Maury County Cemeteries for more information - http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~maury/cemetery/
