In 1942 they purchased a farm in Quincy Township and remained there until retiring and moving to Corning, IA in 1972. In June 1997 they moved to an apartment in Whiting, IA until he died on July 26, 2002.
Survivors include a daughter, Verlee Sawyer of Onawa and three grandsons, Larry and his wife Amy Sawyer of Louisville, TX, Loren Sawyer, and Lynn Sawyer of Onawa
