Herman W. Adkins
Services for Herman W. Adkins, 74, of Brownsboro are scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday in Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jim Lea officiating.

Graveside services and burial will be held at Smith's Chapel Cemetery in DeKalb County Ala.

Mr. Adkins died May, 19, 2000, in Athens.

He was born Feb. 12, 1926, in DeKalb County, Ala. to Enoch Smith and Ada Lou Boydston Atkins.

He lived in Brownsboro for 20 years and attended Opelika Baptist Church.

He was a driver for Greyhound for 37 years before he retired in 1985.

Mr. Adkins was a World War II Veteran of the United States Army Air Corp.

Mr. Adkins was preceded in death by two brothers, Lee Conrad and J.C. Adkins.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Adkins of Brownsboro; sons and daughters-in-law, Don E. and Wilma Adkins, Sr. of Jasper, Tenn., Gary L. and Peggy Adkins of Harrison, Tenn.; daughter, Patricia Ann Williams of Nashville, Tenn.; brother, Richard Adkins of Ider, Ala.; sisters, Lona Mea Albertson, Marie Close and Edna Rae Burson, all of Ider, Ala., Merle Lavelle of Clarks, Neb.; six grandchildren two great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will include Ronnie Voyles, Billy Voyles, Raymond Kidd, Joe Cantrell, Kenneth Miller and Terry Wayne Miller.

Honorary pallbearers will be Winston Reagan, Buford Walker and Neville Soloman.
Family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Monday at the Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
