Obituary - James A. Brown, auditor of the New York Life Insurance company, died at his home, 357 Jefferson Avenue, last night, after an illness of three months. He was born in New York City. Was educated in the public schools and was 52 years old. He was superintendent of the Williamsburgh post office to Postmaster Charles P. Talbot and was elected as a Republican to the assembly from the Ninth District. Mr. Brown was prominently identified at various periods with some of the leading life insurance companies of the country. About twelve years ago he was appointed an arrearage commission in this city. He was noted for his many charities. He leaves a widow, three sons, and three daughters.
