Son of James A. Brown and Elizabeth Ann Skinner, husband of Mae G. Billard and father of Baby Brown, Baby Brown, Irene, Samuel S., Viola (married Mason), and James Allen Brown.

In 1910, A. Russell Brown, aged 26, could be found boarding in the home of Henry Stephens, a lumber wagon driver, aged 34, in Patchogue, Brookhaven, NY. He was shown to be a reader at the mill.

In 1920, A. Russell Brown, aged 36, a property accountant, was shown living on Montridge Street, Brookhaven, NY with wife Mae G. Brown and children Samuel S. Brown, aged 5, and James A. Brown, aged 7 months. Also living in the household was his widowed mother-in-law, Mary M. Billard, aged 63.

He died in connection to a fire "at the shore last winter on the night of the severe blizzard" where the "firemen were handicapped because of the darkness and swirling snow."

"...Fire Volunteers and P.D. Parade - The Rev. John Robert Gee, chaplain of the department gave the invocation and the entire group stood in silence for a moment out of respect to the memory of A. Russell Brown, a fireman for many years, who died last week."

Obituary - Funeral services for A. Russell Brown, 50, widely known as a salesman of equipment for fire departments were held yesterday (Wednesday) in the Ruland Funeral Chapel at Patchogue. The Rev. John R. Gee was the officiating clergyman. Burial was in Cedar Grove Cemetery.

Mr. Brown, who died Sunday night in the Brunswick General Hospital, Amityville, had lived in Patchogue most of his life and was for many years an active member of the Patchogue Fire Department. He is survived by his wife, and two sons and a daughter.
