SACRED to the memory of MRS. ANN E. FLEMING wife of W. B. FLEMING, daughter of OLIVER & ELIZA STEVENS who departed this life Sept. 14th 1826 in the 20th year of her age. To those who knew her, Her virtues & her piety Need not be told: To those who knew her not, Her character would seem Too perfect to be real. Forgive, blest shade! the tribulary tear, That mourns thy exit from a world like this: Forgive the wish that would have kept thee here, And stay'd thy progress to the seals of bliss, No more confin'd to grov'ling scenes of night: No more a tenant pent in mortal clay: Now should we rather hail thy gloreous flight And trace thy journey to the realms of day.
