Samuel S. Boyd, 75, of Star Route, Franklin, died in Franklin Hospital at 9:40 pm Saturday. He was born in Ursina, Somerset County, Jan. 8, 1876, son of Benjamin and Drucilla Pritz Boyd.
He worked at Carnegie Steel Co, of Pittsburgh for 23 years, and Joy Manufacturing Co. for 7 years. He moved to Franklin 10 years ago, and has been ill health the past two years.
He married Mary Alice Kreger and she survives, with a son, George, of Franklin; a foster daughter, Mildred Mullhollen of Pittsburgh; 3 sisters, Florence Kincaid and Molly Firestone, Pittsburgh, and Agnes Lawrence, Keystone Heights, FL; 2 brothers, Charles Boyd, Markleton, and Harry Boyd, Pittsburgh; a grandson, George Boyd Jr., serving with the US Army in England; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 11 am Tuesday at Hoovler Funeral Home with Rev. H. L Knappenberger of First Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be at 2 pm in Homewood Cemetery, Pittsburgh.
