I suspect that this is the James Sigler who married Harriet Ruhl in 1860 in Morrow County, Ohio. Sigler mustered in as a private in Co. E, 125th Regiment, Ohio Vol. Infantry, on 5 Nov 1862. He was reportedly age 21. He was medically discharged on 4 May 1863, and appears to have died soon afterwards. There's apparently a widow's pension application, but it is not (yet) available online.

Harriet remarried in 1865.

By the way, having died after discharge, Sigler would not be included in his regiment's death count. I've found quite a few fellows who died soon after medical discharge. For a long time, the estimated Civil War death toll was 650,000. A recent study suggests closer to 800,000. ERIC.
