Appolonia was the daughter of Karl Gelowitz (also Gelowicz), who was born and died in Derelui, Bukovina. Bukovina was once Moldova as well as Austria, and the southern half is now Romania. The northern half became part of the USSR, then Romania again, and finally Ukraine. Some family trees have placed Derelui in Chernivtsi (formerly Czernowitz), Ukraine and some believe it was in southern Bukovina, and call it Romania. Actually, Voloka Hlyboka Raion* (two villages) in Ukraine is the former Voloca pe Derelui in Romania.

Her mother was Rosalia Kirsch (July 30 1838 Bukovina, Ukraine-after 1892). They were married on June 21, 1859 in Chernivtsi, Chernivtsi, Ukraine. Appolonia usually stated that she was born in Austria, because this was formerly Austria as well as the Austria-Hungarian Empire.

She was married three times. She married her first husband Adam Huber (1854-1908) on January 16 1894. After his death she married Johann Heinrich (John Henry) Mann. He was born on February 7 1843 in Wiesenberg**, Zolkiew, Galicia/ Poland (now Zhovkva, Lviv, Ukraine) and died on March 27, 1927 in Lemberg, Saskatchewan, Canada. They were the parents of at least one additional child. Her third husband was Mr. Schultz. He may be this Robert Schultz (1866 Galicia/ Austria-Poland-1934 Grayson) who is buried in the same cemetery as her first husband and other family members. This marriage could have only occurred after his wife's death in 1930 and before his death in 1934. He was first married to Malgorzata/ Margaret Putzlacher (July 13 1861-Dec 21 1930) and they were the parents of Andrew/ Anton Schultz (baptized July 10 1904).

*Most of the 3035 inhabitants are ethnic Romanians and they are now almost exclusively engaged in a successful cottage industry of sewing bridal gowns.

**The village of Wiesenberg was located within the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Lemberg. If he was catholic, the baptisimal certificate would be in Latin. The city of Lemberg (Lwów / Lvov / Lviv) is Leopolis in Latin. The baptismal certificate would state: Dioecesis Leopoliensis. By coincidence (or likely deliberate naming), he died in Lemberg, Canada.

[The names of the towns that her father and husband were born in is from LarryM's Ancestry tree, which also gave an exact town for her death. After locating her death record by searching with her maiden name, it was discovered that she was married a third time, not shown on any family trees.]

Note-An Apollonia Gelowitz (1894-1958) was the mother of a child named Annan Josepham, born on September 28 1909 in Killaly, Saskatchewan. Her husband's name was Antonio/ Anton D. Hornung (1884-Nov 21 1939 Grayson). He was the son of Daniel Hornung and Julianna Huber. That Apollonia was the niece of this Appolonia (daughter of her brother Mathias).
