GEORGE WILLIAMS
George Williams, a resident of Glen Carbon 62 years, died Tuesday at 4:45 p.m. at the home of his daughter, Mrs. William (Sally) Weckmann, 401 West Washington, Collinsville, where he had resided the past 25 years. He had been in ill health two years.
Mr. Williams, 72, a coal miner, had been employed at the Sunset Hills Coal Company until December, 1949 when he was injured.
Born June 26, 1890 in Mcallister, Okla., he was the son of the late Thomas David and Mary Jane Powell Williams. His wife, Betty, died Sept 15, 1928.
Surviving in addition to the daughter, Mrs. Weckmann, are three other daughters, Mrs. Clifford (Bernice) Lauffer of Jeannette, Pa., Mrs. Raymond (Georgeina) Trebing and Mrs. Arnold (Sylvia) Trebing, both of Glen Carbon; one brother, Benjamin Williams of Arnold, Mo.; one sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Cornelius of La Mesa, Calif; seven grandchildren and 22 great-granchildren. A brother, Joe, preceded him in death.
Mr. Williams was a member of the PMWA Loca 41 of Collinsville.
....Interment will be in Glen Carbon cemetery.
