Daughter of Solomon and Caroline (Kaila) Gustmann Kober, born in Kempen bei Breslau, Posen, Kingdom of Prussia (now Kepno, Poland). She and her husband, Adolph, along with their German-born children, joined her previously settled siblings - Ernestine Fischer, Louis Kober, and Leopold Kober, in St. Louis in 1881.

Known children were: Joseph Randolph Knoch b. 1886 in St. Louis; Ludwig b. 1879 in Prussia; Max b. 1874 in Breslau; and Henry, b. 19 May 1881 in St. Louis.
