This community was genuinely shocked Friday morning to hear of the death of Mrs. Daisy Lambuth Allen, wife of Robert B. Allen, who died at her home at Elkhorn last Thursday night at 9 o'clock, following a brief illness. Death was due to uraemic poison, she having become seriously ill the Sunday prior to her passing. The daughter of Randolph R. and Frances Benningfield, Mrs. Allen was 45 years old, and was born in the community where she had lived all of her life. She professed religion when in her fourteenth year of age and was a true and faithful member of the Baptist church. On December 30, 1903, she was united in marriage to Mr. Allen and to this union nine children, were born, eight of whom with their father survive, five daughters and three sons. They are: Thelma, Morna, Louisa, Majorie and Marion all of this county, and Mrs. Doc Benningfield, of Akron, Ohio; and Paul, Talbott and Joseph. Also surviving are her father, two sisters and one brother, Mrs. James Roberts, this county, and Miss Gertrude Benningfield, of Lexington, and Otis Benningfield; two half-sisters, Mrs. Edna Burton and Miss Elva Benningfield, and a half-brother, Broadus Benningfield. Mrs. Allen was one of the finest and truest characters her community has ever known and her death touched the heart of the people. But even though her life seemed not finished here, counted by time, it was eminently worth while and she left a noble record as a good wife, loving mother and devoted daughter. Her faithful and unselfish love for others will be sadly missed. Funeral services were held at the Elkhorn Baptist Church Sunday afternoon, with the Rev. H. S. Summers, paying high tribute to the deceased. Burial was in the church cemetery. The large concourse of sorrowing friends in attendance attested the love and esteem in which Mrs. Allen was held.
