Helen German McLean was born in Pennsylvania Jan. 30, 1850 to James German and Harriot Abbot. She also had brother's Myron and Justice German. On Sep 29 1883 she was married to Daniel McLean of Chase, in Big Rapids Mi, both at the age of 33. She was previously married as her previous married name was Helen Bean. Her and Dan had a son William Alonzo McLean born Oct 20 1883 and who died in Lake Township, Lake County on Jul 23 1884. They also had a son James McLean born April 14 1887 in Bitely, Newaygo, Michigan. He lived in Chase for a long while, then moved to Cadillac. He was a WWI private quarter master. James died Sep 12 1965 and is buried in Cherry Grove Cemetery in Cadillac, Mi. Helen's husband Daniel was born Oct 23 1950 in Ontario to Donald McLean and Mary Patterson. He is buried next to Helen in the Chase Cemetery. He died Feb 3 1905 of pneumonia.

Daniel McLean passed away to the Great Beyond at his home in Chase, Friday, the 3rd inst., of pneumonia.Funeral services were held in the M.E. (Methodist Episcipal) Church Wednesday of this week.
