Alice Francis was the daughter of Marcus Elisha and Rosie Lee (Riddle) Hendrix. She had at least 9 siblings; Harvey Love, Robert N., Annie Mae, Georgia E., Walter Thomas, James Edward, Eleanor Roberta, Charles Ray, and Jackie Loyd Hendrix.∼Alice "Toochie" Burgett, 95, passed away on January 29, 2023 in Mount Pleasant, Tennessee. Born on October 5, 1927, in Florence, Alabama to the late Marcus and Rosie Hendrix.
Alice lived a full and meaningful life as a devoted housewife, caring mother and friend to many. A proud member of the Beech Hill Church of Christ, she was known for her unwavering faith and generosity.
Alice had a passion for dogs and was a loving owner to Chris and Carrie Ann. Her home was considered the gathering place by her family and friends, and she was always known for her hospitality and kind heart. Her love for collectible dolls and salt and pepper shakers added to the warmth and charm of her home.
Despite her small stature, Alice had a big personality and a feisty attitude that endeared her to all who knew her. She was an amazing caretaker and was loved deeply by her family. Alice will be deeply missed, but her memory will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
Alice is preceded in death by her husband: Frank Burgett; daughter and son in law: Sheila and Grady Staggs; her parents; and siblings: Harvey Hendrix, Robert Hendrix, James Hendrix, W.T. Hendrix, Charles Ray Hendrix, Jackie Hendrix, Annie Mae Clark, and Eleanor Guthrie.
Alice is survived by her daughter: Janie (Ray) Howell; grandchildren: Joshua (Tara) Staggs, Todd Howell, Bullet Howell, Teri (Claude Jr.) LeMay; and Ted (Jada) Howell; greatgrandchildren: Emily Howell, Laure Kate Howell, Shawne Blocker, Shane Blocker, Rainey Howell, Christina (Tim) Warren, Trent (Nikki) LeMay, Blake LeMay, Addison Howell, and Colton Howell; great great grandchildren: Ellie, Hallie, Hayden, and Michael Ray; sister: Georgia Anders, and nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Joshua Staggs, Todd Howell, Bullet Howell, Claude LeMay Jr., Ted Howell, Trent LeMay, and Blake LeMay.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 2, 2023 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Williams Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant, Tennessee. A service for Alice will be Friday, February 3, 2023 at 1:00 PM at Williams Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant with Randy Kersey officiating. Alice will be laid to rest at Arlington Cemetery in Mount Pleasant, Tennessee.
