Funeral services for Mrs. Bertha Rowekamp, 505 Scott street, who died at 9 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph hospital, Highland, will be held at 2 p.m. Friday from the First Presbyterian church, where she was a member. The pastor, Rev. John P. Emig, will officiate and burial will be in St. Paul's cemetery on the Bluff road.
Friends may call at the Lesley Marks funeral home until 11 a.m. Friday when the body will be taken to the church to lie in state until the time of service.
A native of Gillespie, the deceased spent her early childhood in Carlinville. The daughter of the late Thomas and Mary Curdie Cunningham, she was married here to Henry Charles Rowekamp of Edwardsville township in November of 1919. The couple spent their early married life in Granite City. Mr. Rowekamp died there on Feb 13, 1929. After his death Mrs. Rowekamp came to Edwardsville to reside with a sister.
Survivors are two daughters and two grandchildren. Her son Charles died in infancy in 1923 and two brothers and three sisters also preceded her in death. They are David and Robert C. Cunningham and Mrs. Mary Herder, Mrs. Sarah Phillips and Miss Mabel Cunningham.
Besides being a member of the Presbyterian church, she was a member and past president of the church's Women's association and was a former deaconess. She was also a member of Edwardsville Chapter 667, Order of the Eastern Star.
