John Tschan was the son of Hieronymus Tschan and Julia (Schneibel) Tschan. His parents came from Germany around 1857. He was born in Philadelphia about 1861, where his father Hieronymus was a Coachman by occupation. John also served in that Trade for a period of time and that was his trade at the time of his death on September 19 1894. He was buried in St. Matthew Cemetery at the family Plot on September 21 1894. As a note: the family name was pronounced "Johns" and many people often spelled it the same way in error.
