Hurricane, Utah - Theo Wood Shelley passed away June 12, 2012. She was born in Hurricane, Utah to Elsie Stout and William Erwin Wood July 18, 1917. She lived on the family farm on Mt. Trumbull on the Arizona Strip except when they would have to go away to school either in Hurricane or Bundyville. She married Sherman Roy Shelley on September 15, 1936. They were later sealed in the Oakland LDS Temple.

In 1943, Theo and Sherman moved to California where they raised their family and lost their oldest son to Polio. After Sherman retired, they moved back to Hurricane to take care of Theo's mother, Elsie, where they lived until Sherman passed away October 14, 1996 after 60 years of marriage.

She married Milson Clark and moved to Susanville, California, where she lived until June 30, 2011 when she moved back to her beloved Hurricane again.

Theo has always been very active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in various church callings in many branches and wards in California, Nevada and in Hurricane. I think her favorite was Primary where she taught for many years staying up many late nights to get the final touches taken care of on her lesson.

Theo leaves behind seven children: Sheila (Kim) Jensen of Bunkerville, Nevada, Ellen (Jerrett) Dunlap of Leesville, California, Gerald (Carloyn) Shelley of Cane Beds, Arizona, Steve (Mary Lee) Shelley of Mexico City LDS Temple, Kelley (Allison) Shelley of Susanville, California, Elsie (Ron) Christensen of Apple Valley, Utah and Dora Alberro of Golden, Colorado; 34 grandchildren; 87 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great-grandchildren;1 great-great-great- grandchild; and also her youngest brother, Ron Wood.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Elsie Stout and William Erwin Wood; her siblings: Reva, Dwane, Philo John, LeGrand, Valden and Earl; son, Gail; and grandson, Shane.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 16, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the Hurricane LDS Stake Center, 677 South 700 West, Hurricane, Utah. A visitation will be held Saturday, prior to services, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the Stake Center.

Interment will follow at the Hurricane City Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to the care of Metcalf Mortuary, (435) 673-4221.
