Very few of the early Free Will Baptist preachers had this much to do as bringing the denomination together in 1935. The organizational meeting was held at the Cofer's Chapel Free Will Baptist Church where he pastored. He had early influence in both conferences of the East and West. He also had much influence in the beginning the Free Will Baptist Bible College in Nashville, Tennessee where he and his wife, who was also the librarian for numerous years. The library was named after her. He was 94-years-old at the time of his death.
