ODENTON, MD. - Bertha Carter, 78, passed away suddenly on Friday, Jan. 9, 2004, while here visiting her family. Born in El Paso, Texas, she was a resident for 30 years, before moving to Odenton, Md., in 1994.

Mrs. Carter was a member of the O.E.S. Chapter #612 in El Paso, Texas, the Odenton Women's Fellowship in Maryland, the Knights of Columbus, the Fort Mead Chapel, and numerous senior citizen groups.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, James I. Carter.

She leaves to cherish her memory her daughters, Abigail Bowles and her husband, David, of Yorktown, Kathleen Shubert and her husband, Marty, of California; five granddaughters, Jessica, Kristen, Aspen, Emily and Courtney.

A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 14, in Peninsula Memorial Park with the Rev. David Hampton officiating.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, 500 Plume St. East, Suite 110, Norfolk, VA 23510. Amory Funeral Home, Grafton, is handling the arrangements. Edition: Final
