HARLINGEN, TX.- Severo Alcorta went to be with the Lord on June 12, 2012. Severo was born on May 11, 1922 to Reyes Alcorta and Margarita Cantu.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Guadalupe Alcorta; his parents, Reyes Alcorta and Margarita Cantu; his daughters, Olga Alcorta, Marita Alcorta, and Elida Alcorta; siblings: Guadalupe Cantu, Anita A. Salazar, Teodora Guajardo, and Abraham Alcorta and his grandsons Severito Alcorta and Jose Antonio Alcorta.
Severo is survived by his sons: Manuel (Carmen) Alcorta Sr. - San Antonio, TX and Reyes (Ruth) Alcorta - Muscatine, IA; his daughters Margarita (Isidro) Diaz - Kenedy, TX and Carmela (Erasmo) Cordero - Harlingen, TX.; stepchildren: Alberto Moreno - Idaleu, TX, Ester Chamber-San Angelo, TX, Dalia Trevino and Maria Ayala-Harlingen, TX; brother Jesus (Elfida) Cantu - La Feria, TX.; sisters: Olivia Cantu - Harlingen - TX and Isabel Vasquez - La Feria, TX. He was survived by 20 grandchildren, 42 great grandchildren, 31 great great grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins and also his faithful companion of 7yrs his dog Polo.
Honored to serve as pallbearers will be: Rick Alcorta, Daniel Alcorta, Gilbert Cruz, Brijido Herrera, Clemente Cantu, and Narisco Chamberlain. Honorary pallbearer Jonath Herrera.
Visitation will be Thursday from 11am to 9pm with a prayer service at 7pm.
Funeral on Friday at San Felipe Catholic Church at 10am with interment to follow at Las Rusias Cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction of Trinity at Harrison Funeral Home.
