She was born September 14, 1923 in Benavides, Texas, the daughter of Julio and Manuela Garza Cantu.
On December 7, 1946 she married John Franklin Garcia in Oilton, Texas. He died August 7, 1998.
A resident of Hutchinson since 1946, moving from Laredo, TX, she was a homemaker. Eva was a member of St. Teresa Catholic Church.
She is survived by her children; John F. Garcia, Jr. and wife Mary, Christina Garcia-Wolenhaupt, Betty Iverson, Rosemary Sandoval and husband Art, and Carolyn Sue Perez and husband John all of Hutchinson; three brothers, Julio and Guadalupe Cantu, both of Hutchinson, and Adolpho Cantu, Wichita; a sister, Elida Guzman, San Antonio, TX; 10 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Jesus and Oscar Cantu, and a sister Maria Pina and a great-grandson, Rion Sandoval.
Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Saturday and from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Sunday at Penwell Gabel Funeral Home, Hutchinson. Parish Rosary will be 7:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Funeral Mass will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, June 18, 2012 at St. Teresa Catholic Church with Father Nicholas Voelker presiding. Burial will be in Fairlawn Burial Park.
