Warren E. Holmes, age 80, of 7425 North Union Road, Branch, died Thursday, August 25, 2011, at his residence.

Warren was born on May 12, 1931, in Mishicot, son of the late William and Anna (Blum) Holmes. He was educated in Mishicot and graduated from Mishicot High School in 1950.

Warren served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. On July 20, 1957, he married the former Marjorie A. Dill at Pembine Presbyterian Church, Pembine WI. Warren was employed with the Manitowoc Public School System for 38 years, retiring as maintenance supervisor. He was member of First Presbyterian Church in Green Bay, Green Bay Botanical Gardens, and Woodland Dunes. He enjoyed gardening, furniture and cabinetmaking, and beekeeping.

Survivors include his wife: Marjorie Holmes, Branch; two daughters and one son-in-law: Rev. Judith (Ron) Holmes-Jensen, Wauwatosa; Jane Holmes, West Allis; two grandchildren: Lelah May Jensen, Madison; William Jensen, Sheboygan; godson: Ken (Jane) Holmes, Mishicot; one sister and brother-in-law: Bette (William) LaRose, Manitowoc; one brother and two sisters-in-law: Alan (Mary Jean) Holmes, Ladysmith; Adeline Holmes, Mishicot. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents; one granddaughter: Joellen Rose Jensen; three brothers and two sisters-in-law: Wilbur (Lera) Holmes; Elwood Holmes; William (Beverly) Holmes; one sister and brother-in-law: Joyce (Ambrose) Gadzinski.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 29, 2011, at the Jens Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 1122 South 8th Street, Manitowoc. Rev. Randy Argall will officiate. Burial will take place at Branch Evergreen Cemetery. Military graveside services will be accorded by VFW Otto Oas Post #659. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and again on Monday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services at 11:00 a.m. Online condolences may be sent to jensreinboldandpfeffer.com.
