She was born October 16, 1918, in St. Ignace, to Prentiss Marsh and Marion (nee Walker) Brown. She was the second of seven children. She was graduated valedictorian from LaSalle High School in 1935, and was graduated magna cum laude from Albion College in 1939.
In 1941, she married Forest Evashevski and the couple had seven children.
They lived in New York, Florida, Washington, and Iowa, before returning to Michigan and settling in Petoskey. They enjoyed many summers at their cottage in the Les Cheneaux Islands.
Family members said Mrs. Evashevski loved God, her husband, her family, northern Michigan, the Methodist Church, and all sweets, especially chocolate, and she was loved by all who knew her.
Mrs, Evashevski is survived by her children and their families, Forest Jr. and Jean, Jim and Marty, Marion, John and Lucy, Tom and Debbie, Bill, and Kassie and Charle. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Evashevski was preceded in death last October by her husband of 68 years, Forest "Evy" Evashevski.
A memorial celebrating Mrs. Evashevski's life was Friday, October 1, at 11 a.m. at the St. Ignace United Methodist Church officiated by the Reverend Erik Alsgaard and Father Jim Williams. A memorial gathering took place prior to the service at 10 a.m.
Donations may be made to the United Methodist Church, Manna Food Project, and Hospice of Little Traverse Bay.
Stone Funeral Home of Petoskey assisted the family with arrangements.
