What happened between the last time Karen and Jeff were seen alive and the time at which their bodies were found remains a mystery to this day.

Both Karen and Jeff were shot, although Karen’s official cause of death was drowning. Jeff, in addition to being shot, had received severe burns to his face and neck.

There have been many theories and speculations as to what may have happened but no concrete evidence has ever been found to support these. The only evidence available is the locations at which the bodies were found, the injuries Karen and Jeff received, and the location and condition of Jeff’s truck.

Authorities utilized helicopters, search dogs, and many officers on foot in their search for answers. No answers were ever found and no one was ever formally charged with this crime. Bluefield Daily Telegraph
