William E. Stein, 75, Route 4, Chilton, died Thursday, Dec. 18, at Calumet Memorial Hospital after a brief illness.
He was born Oct. 13, 1905 in the town of Meeme, a son of Peter and Theresa Schneider Stein. On Sept. 25, 1929, he married Caroline Seipel at St. Mary Catholic Church, Chilton.

The couple farmed in the town of Charlestown, and celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1979. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, the parish’s St. Joseph Society, the Catholic Order of Foresters and the Chilton Senior Citizens.

Survivors are his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Ervin (Rosemary) Sell, of Chilton, and Mrs. Daniel (Agnes) Beil, of Hilbert; two sons, Robert, of New Holstein, and James of Chilton, 10 grandchildren; four sisters, Mrs. Peter Felton of Sheboygan, Mrs. John Meyer, of St. Nazianz, and Mrs. Ed Junk and Mrs. Elmer Schill; both of Manitowoc; and a brother, Alfred of Sheboygan.

He was preceded in death by two sisters and four brothers.
A funeral Mass was held at St. Mary Catholic Church, Chilton. The Rev. Paul Brick, pastor, was celebrant of the Mass. Burial was in the parish cemetery.
