Bernard Vander Zwaag, 62, of Newkirk, died Friday, January 29 in a Sioux City hospital after a brief illness.
Services were at 1:30 p.m. Monday in Newkirk Reformed Church. The Rev.Eugene Voss officiated. Burial was in the Newkirk Cemetery under the direction of the Van Gelder Funeral Home of Orange City.
Mr. Vander Zwaag was born June 22, 1919, in rural Orange City.
He married Vaida Kuiken July 2, 1937, in Middleburg. The couple lived in Sioux County and farmed near Newkirk for many years.
He was a member of the Newkirk Reformed Church.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Gary K, of Hospers and Marion D of Orange City; one daughter, Mrs. Tom (Karen) Feit of Rushmore, Minn.; one brother, Henry P. of Orange City; two sisters, Mrs.Gerrit (Clara) Doornink of Sioux Center and Mrs. Gerrit W. (Liz) Kosters of Orange City; and 10 grandchildren.
