Rev. C.C. Trimble of Norfleet, Kentucky died January 3, 1932 after a short illness of six weeks with chronic nephritis, age 78 years, 3 months, and 9 days. He leaves a widow and six children; Mrs. C.C. Trimble; C.D. Trimble, Omer Trimble, Veston Trimble, Mrs. Luther Ard, and Mrs. Jones Ard, all of Naomi, Kentucky, and Mrs. G.W. Tarter of Nancy, Kentucky; forty-one grandchildren; thirty-three great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Mrs. J.W. Fitzgerald of Naomi, Kentucky and Mrs. M.M. Floyd of Trimble, Kentucky.

Bro. Trimble was united with the Bethlehem Baptist Church in September 1875, was ordained a deacon of his church in 1878, and was ordained to preach the gospel in February 1889, by a presbytery consisting of Rev. S.C. Jones of Wayne County, Kentucky, Rev. F.C. Burton, Joshua Burton, and Perry Burton of Okalona Baptist Church, and J. Flynn, R.S. Dagley, and J.M. Beshears of Bethlehem Church, all of whom have long since preceded him to the grave.

Funeral services were conducted at the Bethlehem Baptist Church by Rev. J.S. Dick, assisted by Rev. John A. Jones and Dewit Burton. Rev. Dick read the 90th Psalm, using as his text 2 Samuel 3-38. "And the King said unto his servants, know ye not that there is a prince and a great man fallen this day in Israel." Rev. Dick said, in part:

He heeded the call of the King and became a prince in his earthly kingdom, and was concerned about the King's business.

He received the great commission to preach the gospel and failed not to declare the whole council of God. He did not have an enemy; of course, there were those who did not agree with him, but they honored and respected him for his firmness. In his 42 years of preaching he was instrumental in leading hundreds of lost souls to faith in Christ.

He did not hesitate to leave his home and family and go out at the King's command, having faith in God that all would be well. He was above the average in this world's goods, God having prospered him. Bro. Trimble did not expect God to vacate His throne, but he did expect a place around His throne as a prince of royal blood.

Let me say to those who remain that Bro. Trimble has only passed from his labors here to take his place where pain and parting is no more, and his spirit is now basking in the eternal sunshine of God's love. Of course, it is hard to think of him as being gone from our midst, and very naturally is absence from the fireside, his voice, his smile, and the tender touch of his loving hands are things which we can only cherish in fond memory until we receive the call to come and live where he is and with him throughout the cycles of an endless eternity.
