Mr. Czygryn was a corporal in the Polish Army during World War II. He later was taken by the German Nazis and held in a forced labor camp. He arrived in New York City, New York, on August 23, 1950, as a displaced person, having crossed the Atlantic Ocean on the ship General Harry Taylor. He left Germany from Bremerhaven, Germany.

He was married in Poland, but he arrived in the USA alone, and he never knew what happened to his wife. He married again in the USA.
