SALEM -Raymond Starbuck 94, of Salem, died Saturday, June 23, 2012 in the early evening hours at his home.

He was born on May 19, 1918 in Colerain, Ohio to the late Lewis and Myrtle (Fergson) Starbuck.

He was a 1936 graduate of Goshen High School and a 1981 retiree from the E. W. Bliss Company as a sheet metal worker. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy during WWII and served from 1944 to 46. He was a member of the Salem First Presbyterian Church and attended the Damascus Friends Church, a member of Salem UCT 590, and was an avid fan of the Cleveland Indians and the Ohio State Buckeyes. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, and playing cards.

He is survived by his two loving and caring daughters, Patty (husband Frank) Hieronymus-Hamilton of Salem and Eva (husband Van) Thaxton of Akron; his two sisters, Sara Schaefer of Bowling Green, Ohio and Edith Berger of Beloit; his grandchildren that he truly enjoyed, Sherry Deckerd, Lee Thaxton, Terry Thaxton, and Holly Reimer; and 11 great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death on June 2, 2010 by his wife the former Juanita J, Conrad, whom he married on Sept. 21, 1937; his siblings, Margaret McConnell, Helen Moser, Harry Starbuck and Lena Althouse; a grandson, Mike Hieronimus and a son-in-law, Carroll Hieronimus

A celebration of Life service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 29, 2012, at the Damascus Friends Church with the Rev. John Ryser officiating. The burial will follow in the Damascus Friends Cemetery. The Salem Honor Guard will hold a military service with honors in Damascus.
